Super Troopers (2002), one of the funniest cult comedies from the early 21st century gets a much demanded, long awaited, and crowd funded sequel. The best news about Super Troopers 2 is that it does not just recycle the same jokes from the original but only references a few of the first movies most quotable lines and memorable moments. Paying audiences that enjoyed the first film can just sit back and laugh. They are in good hands this time around with the writers and actors from the Broken Lizard comedy team.

The opening shot is of a yellow line moving rapidly as the camera pulls up to reveal the road and a big red bus speeding down the highway. An officer gets out pulls them over and from there the jokes, and elaborate ruses, take over. Discussing the plot of this movie serves little to no purpose and almost does Super Troopers 2 a disservice. It is very doubtful that people going out of their way to see this movie care about the intricate  details of the story. But it would be even more of a disservice to ruin the jokes which is why people would see this movie in the first place. Just trust me, if you liked the first one, you will enjoy another round of zany adventures with some of your favorite screwball cops.

The gang is back, mustaches and all for ‘Super Troopers 2’

One of the best things about Super Troopers 2 is that it was nice catching up with these characters after all these years away. It was fun spending time with them even if they are up to the same old shenanigans. The funniest part of the movie was a hilarious montage of the troopers pulling over unsuspecting motorists and playing tricks on them. The humor is similar to the first one but not identical and most of the jokes work and will get the laughs or at least a kind smile from the viewer. Plus the ending and final moments are akin to what these guys would get and deserve so the character arcs and plot points are appropriate.

Super Troopers 2 is nothing brilliant but is just harmless fun. It felt like you were catching up with some old friends from college for a few hours. This movie has a lot of clever dialogue and judging it against other comedy sequels, it may be funnier than you might expect.
